Foodtacular weekend

As the post title implies, our weekend has pretty much revolved around food this weekend. Crystal & I woke up on Saturday morning to help out with the annual pancake breakfast hosted by Guaranty Chevrolet to benefit four of the Santa Ana High school sports programs. We did it last year and had a good time. The only down side is that we couldn't stand to eat pancakes for two months afterwards last year. This year, however, I ended up working the sausage station while Crystal helped pour the batter onto the pancake grills. Little did we realize when we left that we would be in the sun for an hour and a half without sunblock, and that it would be 85 outside instead of the 70 when we left the house. Nonetheless, afterwards, we were pooped and smelling like breakfast foods. We came straight home and each took a 2 hour nap to recover and then went for a 2 mile walk down the trail by our house. It was nice to take a nice leisurely stroll and exercise once again. (We tried to wake up at 5:30 each morning for 2 weeks starting last Monday morning, but that only lasted until Wednesday when we realized how early 5:30 is and how cold it is outside at that time of day/night/morning/night).

This morning, we got up and made a three course meal for breakfast. It's nice to be able to do that and not have to rush before going to work. Needless to say, we were both completely stuffed and satisfied with our choices of foods to start our day before going to church. After church we came home and planned where to go for lunch afterwords. Crystal wanted something light, so after much contemplation, we decided on Souplantation. For those who don't know what it is, Souplantation is a buffet style restaurant that serves salad, soups, and an assortment of breads. Needless to say, we stuffed our faces with everything in sight... especially ice cream and corn bread.

Tonight, we are relaxing for another leisurly night of the Amazing Race and political ads.

Until next time...
